About us

Rob Payne Engineering began in June 2019, introducing a range of Australian-made, precision-engineered transducer poles designed to suit Garmin and Lowrance Live units.

Built for the harsh realities of both freshwater and, in particular, saltwater environments, every pole and mounting system is meticulously crafted for durability, reliability, and performance. Designed to integrate seamlessly with RAM mounting components, the systems securely mount to gunwales and rails while maintaining a simple, user-friendly design — a key priority from day one.

In early 2021, the range expanded with the introduction of extension pieces, followed shortly by the development of telescopic poles. These innovations were created for anglers needing additional reach for higher-sided boats — especially in offshore conditions — without the inconvenience of heavier, fixed-length poles.

Later in 2021, Transducer Poles Australia was established alongside the release of the Ultra and Ultra HD (Heavy Duty) pole systems — quickly becoming standout performers in the range. As demand grew for a more accessible option, the C.V. (Customer Value) pole was introduced, delivering exceptional performance and durability at a more budget-friendly price point without compromising quality.

Continuing to innovate, carbon fibre poles were introduced as a lightweight yet ultra-strong alternative to aluminium, giving anglers more choice to suit their setup and preferences.

With a focus on delivering complete live sonar solutions, the range has expanded to include quick-release mounts, power integration options, wire management pucks, and advanced fold-down sounder mounting systems — ensuring every detail of the setup is considered.

After six years of manufacturing, extensive real-world feedback, and over 35 years of engineering expertise, the latest designs — the Ultra Free Sleeved and Ultra Free Bearing Mounting Block — represent the pinnacle of the range. These systems deliver exceptionally smooth operation, resulting in clearer, more precise sonar imaging on the screen.

We’re proud of how far the range has come — from its beginnings to the high-performance systems available today.

Rob Payne Engineering launches designs of high-quality, Australian-made transducer pole systems built to suit Garmin and Lowrance Live units.

What began with precision-engineered pole solutions has evolved into a complete mounting system, now including gunwale and rail mount options available in 1400mm and 1600mm lengths, these poles are purpose-built to suit larger boats.
